Mimi Cecilia Aziz

Mimi is a currently completing her PhD research in Dr. Clement Chow's lab at the University of Utah. She uses Drosophila to model PIGA-CDG, a rare congenital disorder of glycosylation. Her work leverages multiple screening strategies to identify genetic modifiers and novel therapeutic approaches for PIGA-CDG. Having studied the genetics of rare neurodevelopmental disorders for nearly 8 years, she is committed to advancing patient-centered research and improving treatment options for people with rare diseases. After graduate school, she hopes to continue contributing to the rare disease field. Outside the lab, you can find her on a trail, starting a new craft she may never finish, or relaxing on the couch with snacks and her animals.
