Raegan Adams
Project: Research & Stakeholder Engagement Intern for our Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Stakeholder Convening Project
Raegan was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She completed her bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2022 before matriculating to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, where she is currently pursuing a PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Genetics, Development, and Disease. She works under the guidance of Dr. Rachel Bailey, where she studies a rare pediatric neurodevelopmental disorder called SLC13A5 Citrate Transporter Disorder. Her research uses patient-relevant mouse models to better understand disease mechanisms and evaluate potential gene therapy approaches. It has been through this research experience that Raegan has developed a deep appreciation for patient centered research communities and hopes to continue working with rare diseases following graduate school. Outside of research, Raegan enjoys traveling to national parks, film photography, reading, and knitting.
