Jack Colyer
Jack is a first year Biomedical Engineering student at the University of Michigan School of Engineering with a strong interest in genetics and rare disease research. His motivation to pursue this work stems from his sister’s diagnosis with OCNDS two years ago. Through her experiences, Jack has become committed to understanding how genetic variation translates into real-world health outcomes and to helping improve care and quality of life for individuals and families affected by rare genetic conditions.
At Michigan, Jack is involved in genetics research, working on designing gene constructs and analyzing sequencing data to better understand how certain genes affect the response to medications. His academic interests include genetics, chemistry, and engineering, with a particular interest in how sequencing and genetic analysis can be used to improve diagnosis, monitoring, and long-term understanding of rare disorders.
Outside of academics and research, Jack enjoys golf, cheering for the Red Sox and Michigan sports, and spending time with family. He looks forward to continuing his collaboration with the CSNK2A1 Foundation and contributing to efforts that advance research, advocacy, and community support for individuals with OCNDS.
