Carly is a PhD scientist with a background in cellular mechanobiology and mechanotransduction. Her doctoral studies focused on the interplay between nucleocytoplasmic transport and mechanobiological transitions in epithelial cells.
During her PhD, Carly realized her deep care and commitment for disability advocacy; and in parallel, she uncovered her interest in initiatives that seek to bridge scientists, doctors, and patients to improve outcomes. This combined motivation is what brought Carly to the CSNK2A1 Foundation as an intern. Long-term, Carly hopes to develop a career in scientific program management at a non-profit like the CSNK2A1 Foundation, where she can support work that ultimately advances patient treatment. Carly will be working with Dr. Rushing to analyze Simons Searchlight natural history data.
In her free time, Carly is most often out on the trails running and biking, or enjoying endless fetch games with her border collie.
